The archer’s bow translates into the chair’s armrest.

Filo-Chair

Producer: Bene
Design: EOOS for Keilhauer

DESIGN
Prior to developing Filo, EOOS invited a Japanese master of archery to Vienna. He introduced them to "Kyudo", the art of archery including breathing and concentration techniques. He demonstrated that concentration derives from minimal movement.
The designers translated the marksman’s bow into the chair’s armrest. Filo offers great seating comfort and continuous flexibility without any complicated mechanical device. The user’s steady micro movements enhance concentration. The point is tension and relaxation, lightness and sophistication, which are inherent in the construction and design. An almost weightless yet robust design with a minimal formal code.
