Blå Station
Established in 1986 as a family enterprise in the small town of Ahus, Sweden.
Blå Station (
Börge
Lindau
Ahus) was founded on a designer’s drive to produce furniture he personally likes that deserves its place on the market. The name of the designer was
Börge Lindau, who had returned to his home town after many years as a partner to the highly successful
designer team Lindau & Lindekrantz.
Blå Station manufactures furniture based on carefully selected materials and techniques. For many years, their design language was closely associated with Börge’s preferred idiom: circles, birchwood and stainless steel. Today, their forms of expression, materials and shapes have developed from close collaboration with young new designers and novel technologies.
Their underlying philosophy has remained the same: Meeting today’s requirements and aspirations requires a spirit of innovation, a child’s curiosity and a heart that despises simple solutions.
In their search for the unexpected and unexplored rather than the already known and well-established, Blå Station are driven by curiosity. This curiosity may force them to decipher new codes, to restructure the entire manufacturing process, from the living tree to the chair’s seat, from iron ore to metal frames.
In that regard, their stance is uncompromising: Their work is exclusively based on tried and tested natural materials, while they avoid those that are hazardous to the user or that cause ecological demage.
Behind any new idea, quality must be part of the equation. Quality of intention, form, function, impact and materials. Quality can never be a subsequent afterthought.
